But why Chia Seeds?
The hype has been around already for some time. And I have to say for a great reason.
Chia seeds are one of the top healthy nutritional seeds, which are perfect to use in our Low Carb or Keto Lifestyle. The additional advantage is, that in whatever liquid you mixed them into, the seeds transform into the jelly-like structure and make puddings or thicken our dishes without additional starches, which are just really bad.
What do Chia Seeds contain?
- They are high in Antioxidants
- High in Vitamins and Minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, and Potassium
- Contain Omega 3 – ALA
- Are filled with Dietary Fiber and Protein
Are Chia Seeds Keto?
Although they do contain some carbohydrates, you really need only a tiny amount for one portion. So the answer is definitely yes.
You can use them in our lifestyle, not only for making quick breakfast pudding, but they can be added as well into the berries for a perfect Low Carb Jam or a marmalade.
Also, a great option is to add Chia seeds into your drinks or cocktails. For example, you can just add it into flavoured water to get the effect of the so popular Buble Tea.
Do Chia Seeds Help in Constipation?
Yes and this is a big YES:
One of the greatest benefits of Chia seeds is the help in constipation.
All you have to do is to soak few teaspoons of chia seeds in water. The ratio should be approximately 1/3 of a cup chia seeds for 3 full cups of water.
More chia seeds you add, faster the jelly structure will form.
Some people make this every morning after they wake up. And after they get ready, Chia seeds are prepared as well.
I have friends, that mix water with Chia seeds in a Mason Jar and keep it in the fridge for the whole week. Then every day, they do take a tablespoon either with their yogurt or just plain.
And although I have never had problems with constipation, friends who do, really swear by this and they will never ever change this one little habit, which then helps them lead a normal life.
What types of Chia Seeds exist?
Until about a few years ago, I have always thought there are only black Chia seeds.
Until one day, I have found in the supermarket white once, which I have to purchase immediately and then have done a bit of research to find out that the differences are really marginal. Black chia seeds do contain a bit more protein, while white chia seeds are slightly higher in Omega 3 acids.
For me personally, I do like to have both of the colors at home, but purely only for the aesthetic side of it.
Can Chia seeds be Sprouted?
Apparently yes, although I have not tried it, but have been planning to do this one day. So just in case you already have, do let us know of the benefits.
In just 5 quick minutes your Breakfast is on the table. Enjoy it fully. All you have to do is mix few ingredients and your love of Chia Coco Pudding has just been discovered.
With the addition of lemon zest as well as vanilla, the taste would make you dream about it the whole day long and you would not be able to wait and come home for some more.
This chia coco or pudding is done without milk and only a bit of coconut oil for a flavor. It is one of the fastest and easiest ways to prepare something with Chia seeds for your breakfast or just as a snack in the afternoon.
In 5 minutes everything is done and you can enjoy it.
Can Chia Seeds be Frozen?
They actually should be always kept in the refrigerator or frozen to keep them as fresh as possible.
But I have them in my spice cabinet, which is also not a problem. Just to make sure you do use them as quick as possible once opened.
As Chia seeds are low in carbohydrates and high in fiber, they are a perfect ingredient to use for Keto Recipes.
With the filling and satisfying ability of Chia seeds Recipes, you should add them to your meal plan at least once a week.
Looking at all of the ingredients that are a part of our lifestyle, chia pudding is done the right way, especially our Coconut Chia Pudding is not only fully Keto but also Low Carb, Sugar-Free, Grain-Free, Diabetic Friendly as well as Dairy Free and a perfect fit in our diet.

Hi Zuzana, another lovely recipe – thanks! You mentioned “sprouted chia seeds” – I remember as a child that I was given a “chia pet” as a gift. It was a small, hollow clay animal with ridges along it’s back. You put chia seeds in the ridges, then added water to the body and in a little while, the seeds sprouted and the animal had “hair”. Look on Amazon, it’s a fun little project maybe for your daughter (I don’t know how old she is…) since you certainly do have chia seeds in your house! Cheers, Emily
Dear Emily,
I have tried sprouting Chia Seeds last month and I will for sure do it again and again. The perfect idea and thanks a lot for your suggestion. My daughter would love it for sure.
Hands down my favourite breakfast!! So tasty! The lemon is really good in it. It keeps me going until lunch time, too??
So so happy Leanne you found your go-to breakfast choice.
I love chia pudding and this recipe was delicious. I used almond milk and it turned out thick and creamy!
Fastest breakfast ever.
I mostly just use chia seeds for my overnight oats, so I tried out this pudding and I loved it! It’s super easy to make but it’s so filling!
Tasty even without oats.
Chia has really helped me and improved my health. I’m always glad to find new recipes. This one is another keeper. Great addition to my rotation. Its good and filling. I love the mix of flavors.
It is for sure the easiest and fastest way to enjoy your breakfast when in a hurry.
I made this without the raspberry because I don’t have any on hand. It was the perfect little afternoon treat, not too heavy. I’m going to order some raspberry syrup for next time because it sounds so good!
You do not even need to use raspberry. Just pick whatever at home.
The coconut flavor is so creamy and the chia seeds gave an extra crunch. Topped mine with strawberry jam and it’s a perfect way to start my day right. Yum!
Love the strawberry idea.
