Simple Cheese Recipes
Cheese, O My, Cheese. We all love it. We all use it, and in our lifestyle, cheese is a crucial ingredient in recipe development.
What I love the most is that you can make various cheese snacks or bites with only pure cheese and maybe an additional one to two ingredients.
Just look at our Keto Popcorn, Cheese Pops, Cheese Puffs, or a Moon cheese as some call it, made with only cheese. Our Keto Goldfish Crackers made the same as Keto Popcorn cheese pops above, just with different shapes and cheese.
Next in the line are Cheese Chips made again with cheese only and a few herbs, pickles, or olives.Cheese Bacon Chips made with two different cheese types, and a bit of bacon will be one of your favorite. Crispy Keto Chaffle Chips comes next in line, again made with only pure cheese.
But what I can not forget to mention is my childhoods favorite, cheesy keto bread bites aka pagaciky.
I so much love those super simple Cheese snack recipes. And there will never be enough of them.
Cheddar Cheese Balls
With our recipe, you will learn how to make cheese balls, how to fry cheese, and how to make deep-fried cheese balls.
Today I will be introducing you to the super simple, already famous, close to the Cheddar Cheese Balls recipe you all will realize is needed.
Our Keto Fried Cheddar Cheese Balls are very close in looks to the Korean Cheese Balls or Bolitas de Queso, ever so famous in Latin Amerika. With one tiny difference. No flour involved, No starch involved, and no bread crumbs either.
Easy Cheese Balls Recipe
Our Homemade Cheese Balls recipe is pure cheese with half an extra ingredient.
That half ingredient is an egg white, which will hold everything together while frying.
Types of Cheese Balls
If you go through uncle google, you will realize various recipes under the name cheese balls.
There are the once, where you just have a kind of cheese spread similar to our Cheese Dip and shape it into balls, either mini or one whole big Christmas ball.
But there are four distinctive Cheese balls recipes that look almost identical but are made differently from the inside.
- The whole Cheese wrapped in bread crumbs is cheese cubes covered in breadcrumbs.
- Fried Mozzarella Balls – mini mozzarella balls coated and fried
- Shredded Cheese mixed with flour and dipped in whisked eggs and breadcrumbs
- Our recipe – Pure shredded cheese of your choice gently folding in with whisked egg white and fried
How to Use Egg Whites in Fried Cheese balls?
I would like to point out this step as it makes a difference whether you whisk your egg whites before and gently fold them into the shredded cheese or pour liquid egg whites in.
While both options are ok and will still make your easy-fried cheese balls delicious, there is a difference in taste.
Whisked and gently folded egg white gives you a more fluffy consistency. Not whisked eggs on the other side will result in more of a liquid cheese mixture inside the fried balls.
It depends on your liking what process you choose.
From our recipe, you get 13 balls, out of which each ball is 23 calories only.
The whole recipe contains only 2 grams of carbohydrates total.
That is awesome.
One ball has got 0 carbohydrates total.
You can certainly make those Cheese balls in an Air Fryer, but with slightly different results.
I have made a complete full recipe for you, where I have used a different type of cheese.
For me, making this recipe in an Air fryer resulted more in cheese puffs, where the exact puffy balls did not happen. But as per my daughters, they preferred the air fryer option slightly more.
What type of Cheese to use for fried Cheese Balls?
Making fried cheese balls, you can use any type of hard cheese. Just make sure you shred your cheese at home.
The store-bought already shredded cheese contains various types of starch for the shreds to stay separated, and this particular recipe will not give you that gooeyness pure melted cheese does.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE FRIED CHEESE BALLS
First Step: Prepare Ingredients
Prepare all of your ingredients.
Egg whites should be at room temperature to get the best-whipped texture you can.
You should shred your cheese at home to avoid the additional starches in the store-bought pre-shredded cheese variations.
Second Step: Whisk Egg Whites
Start with whisking your egg whites.
Make sure your egg white is whisked fully until you get a stiff peak.
There is also an option where you can skip whisking your egg white and use a typical liquid egg white mixed together with your shredded cheese.
The difference is in the structure of the fried balls, where without whisking the egg whites, the cheeseballs will be a little more liquid from inside.
Some might prefer that, and it is entirely OK to skip this step.
Third Step: Add egg whites into the shredded Cheese
Add your whisk egg whites into the shredded cheese.
Fourth Step: Fold in the egg whites.
Gently start folding your egg whites into the shredded cheese using a fork or a spoon.
Make sure all shredded cheese is thoroughly combined with your whisked egg whites.
You can also store the mixture in the refrigerator for about an hour to get your Keto cheese balls to be shaped easier.
Fifth Step: Shape Balls
In this step, we start shaping the cheese balls.
For me, it was the easiest using my hands.
Make sure you shape your fried cheese balls small as they double in size while frying.
Sixth Step: Fry
Heat your vegetable oil, and once hot, gently place cheese balls one by one into the frying pot.
Make sure there is a space in between, as you will have to keep turning the balls all the time to get the best shape.
Seventh Step: Take out
Once you see your fried cheeseballs have got a beautiful shape and a golden brown color, using your fork, gently remove them from oil and place them on the kitchen paper towel to get rid of that extra oil.
You can serve it immediately or store it for later.
Tips and Tricks:
- Egg Whites – whisked egg whites give you more of a fluffy structure of fried balls from inside, while not whisked egg whites get you more liquid consistency.
- Type of Cheese – you can use any hard cheese you desire for this recipe
- Refrigerate – the mixture for 45 minutes for better shaping and frying
- Shape – shape your balls small. Remember, while frying, they double in size.
