- Natural Sweetness: This classic recipe contains no sugar but there is no need to worry. The natural sweetness of ripe apricots will give the same sweet and fruity flavor without extra sugar.
- Healthy Option: As I mentioned, this jam is made without added sugar, so it is a healthier choice than traditional jams. If you practice a no-sugar and low-carb diet, this is it.
- Preservative-Free: Not only does this have no sugar, but making this jam allows you to avoid preservatives and artificial ingredients because we only use natural and wholesome ingredients.
Are Apricots Low Carb?
Yes, apricots are relatively low in carbs. In 100 grams of apricots, there are just 9 grams of net carbs, making them a great option for those watching their carb intake. This is even less than the carb content in blueberries, which makes apricots a good choice for low-carb diets. You can enjoy apricots in moderation without worrying too much about your carb count.
Best Apricot Jam Recipe
As a mom, I always enjoy making homemade jams because my kids absolutely love them. One of their favorites is my strawberry jam recipe, which I make as often as possible for the whole family to enjoy.
This time, I’ve created a fantastic apricot jam that’s sugar-free and perfect for bread, toast, and snacks. If you try it, you’ll never return to a store-bought one. Remember that this jam will last only a few weeks in your fridge because there is not a single drop of sugar.
What Is the Taste of This Homemade Jam?
This sugar-free apricot jam has an addicting and rich taste. Its natural sweetness is balanced by a hint of tartness from the lemon juice and an unexpected hint of cinnamon. One would not even realize there is no sugar in it.
Although the fruity flavor is strong, it is not overly sweet. It’s just perfect for spreading on toast or adding to yogurt. Trust me, once you try it, you will want to put it on everything you can.
Can I Only Make Jam Recipes Using Fresh Fruits?
No. You can make jam using frozen berries or frozen fruits, too. They work just as well as fresh fruits, so you don’t have to worry if you don’t have fresh ones available. There are always options.
How To Make Apricot Jam Recipe
Let me show you the process of making this delicious jam recipe with all the steps you can easily follow. I also made a video to show you how I did it. Make sure to check it out.
Kitchen Gadgets Needed:
- Cooking Pot: Use a medium-sized cooking pot to simmer and cook the apricots.
- Potato Masher: You will need a potato masher to mash the big pieces of apricots before blending.
- Hand Blender: For a smoother jam texture that we all want, use a hand blender.
- Glass Jar Containers: Prepare a few small jars to store your apricot jam later.
Ingredients Needed:
- Apricots: Use fresh and ripe apricots for the best flavor because of their sweetness and vibrant color. Frozen ones work just as well if you cannot find any fresh apricots.
- Water: A cup of water is good to help the apricots cook down. No need for boiling water.
- Lemon Juice: This will add a tangy twist and help hold the bright color of the jam. Fresh lemon juice is the best to use.
- Cinnamon: A bit of cinnamon adds a warm and spicy note that will mix with the flavor of the apricots.
- Xanthan Gum (optional): A small amount will help thicken the jam, but you can skip it if you prefer a looser consistency.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO HOMEMADE APRICOT JAM
First Step: Prepare All Ingredients
First of all, prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe.
Wash and pit the apricots. Cut them into small pieces and prepare the rest of the ingredients, such as water, lemon juice, and cinnamon.
Since the xanthan gum is optional, it is your call whether to use it to thicken your jam at the end.
Second Step: Cook the Apricots
Combine the apricots, water, lemon juice, and cinnamon in your heated pot. Bring them to a boil over medium heat and cook for 20 minutes until the water evaporates, stirring frequently.
Third Step: Xanthan Gum
After the cooking time, stir the jam mixture and add 1/2 teaspoon of xanthan gum if you want it to have a thicker consistency. Continue to cook once you add the thickener.
Fourth Step: Hand Blender
Once you notice that the jam is getting thick, take the hand blender and blend the sauce until it turns into a smooth jam consistency.
Remove the jam from the heat and allow it to cool before transferring it to your storage jars.

Yes, apricots are stone fruits like peaches, plums, and cherries. They have a large pit or “stone” in the center, surrounded by the delicious, juicy flesh that makes them so tasty.
How Do I Store To Preserve Apricot Jam?
One note for this recipe is that if you want to preserve it for longer, sweetener or sugar and lemon must be added. The best way to store your apricot jam is by sealing it in a jar. Clean and sterilize the jam jars and lids if you want to preserve it. Place into the microwave for 5 minutes before filling up and after that.
Fill the jars while they are boiling. Put the lid but do not screw it. The lid will suck in. Then after you screw, add a freezing ice-cold towel on top for the lid to suck even more for 15 minutes. Turn all jars upside down and fold into a thick blanket for 24 hours.
