Ingredients

  • 1 Long Cucumber
  • 1/2 Avocado
  • 6 slices Raw Salmon

Instructions

  • Prepare all of the ingredients together, in our case, long cucumbers, avocado, and raw salmon.
  • Using your vegetable peeler, slice the cucumber's outer layers.
  • Having your sushi bamboo mat already prepared, layer the slices of cucumbers, making sure they are halfway covering each other. Once all of the slices are layered, cut the ends to make sure the pieces are the same size.
  • Onto the one corner of the cucumber slices, place your toppings avocado and salmon horizontally.
  • As you see in the video, start rolling Naruto rolls exactly the same way as you would roll standard sushi into a log.
  • Once your cucumber is rolled, cover it with cling film and tighten it from each side for the roll to hold its shape. It is advisable to either place the Naruto roll in the fridge for an hour or freeze it for a few minutes for the cucumber to hold its shape before cutting.
  • Take your naruto roll log out of the fridge or a freezer, open the cling film, and gently cut it into six cucumber naruto rolls.

Notes

  • Slicing - avoid slicing middle of the cucumber as this contains most water, and those slices are difficult to use for Naruto Maki.
  • Layering - make sure the cucumber slices are layered halfway on top of each other to avoid gaps in between
  • Cooling - wrapping naruto rolls and cooling them before cutting helps rolls to hold their shape
