Ingredients

  • 2 Pieces Sweet Onions large
  • 2 teaspoons Chili Onion Crunch
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika smoked or regular
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun Seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Italian Herbs
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter divided

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°Fahrenheit (190 °Celsius) and prepare a baking dish. Gather your ingredients and have everything measured and ready. Set aside foil for wrapping the onions later.
  • Peel the onions and cut a 1-inch opening at the top of each one. Use a small spoon to scoop out the center, creating a deep well about halfway down. Drop ½ tablespoon of butter into the hollow center of each onion.
  • In a small bowl, melt the remaining tablespoon of butter. Stir in the chili onion crunch, garlic, paprika, Old Bay, Cajun seasoning, Italian herbs, salt, and pepper. Pour this flavorful mixture over each onion, filling the wells and coating the outsides.
  • Wrap each tightly in foil and place the onion into the baking dish. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until the onions are fork-tender, adding more time if needed. For a caramelized finish, unwrap and broil for 2–3 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Pick the Right Onion: Use sweet yellow onions for the best flavor; they soften beautifully and bring natural sweetness. Avoid strong onions like red or white as they can be too sharp.
  • Score the Onion Before Boiling: Lightly cut an "X" on the top of the onion before boiling to help the flavors soak in deeper. It also helps the onion cook evenly inside.
  • Finish with a Topping: After boiling, drizzle with melted butter, sprinkle cheese, or add a dash of hot sauce for extra flavor. This takes the simple boil to the next level.
