Ingredients

  • 6 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup Wild Blueberries
  • 10 Black Olives

Instructions

  • Boil your eggs to fully hard using your preferred method.
  • Place half a cup of frozen wild berries into a pot.
  • Add boiling water and let it boil for another 10-15 minutes. Letting them cook further will help evaporate water, making your color dark and deep.
  • Once your hard-boiled eggs are cooked, remove eggs from a cooking pot. Place eggs to a large bowl and, with a teaspoon, lightly crack shell one by one throughout the whole egg.
  • Using a spoon, gently place the cracked eggs one at a time into the boiled blueberry cooking liquid. It is best if you layer in a large saucepan.
  • Remove from heat and let stand for 15 minutes allowing the wild berries water to work its charm and color all the eggs.
  • Let the eggs cool completely. Place all cracked eggs into a bowl and gently peel them all.
  • For olive spiders, it is best to buy olives without seeds. It will be much easier to cut them into the exact shapes you want. Take the olives and cut them in halves. Once they are cut, take some halves and cut each into a bit thicker slices. This will then be used for the legs of the spiders.
  • All of the eggs you have peeled need to be cut in half. Place eggs in a single layer in a large plate you will decorate.
  • Place one-half of the olive on top of each sliced egg. Slowly place three slices on each side of the half to form a spider-like looking little monster creature. You can use tweezers if you wish to.

Notes

  • Spoon - do not use a wooden spoon in the process as it might color it.
  • Deviled - if you want to go for filled eggs, mash the yolks with sour cream or avocado
  • Taste - do not worry that they taste like blueberries. There are so few fruits in to prevent any other flavor.
  • Colored hands - use a medium bowl mixed with water and baking soda to wash your hands.
