Keto Deviled Eggs Spread

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my disclosure policy.

This keto deviled egg spread gives you everything you love about a classic deviled egg recipe without needing a piping bag, perfectly halved egg whites, or any assembly. Dill pickle flavor runs through it alongside Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and fresh herbs, making it one of those appetizers that disappear faster than it takes to assemble. This recipe is for when you want real deviled egg flavor without spending too much time on it.

I love deviled eggs, but I always want to skip the assembly, especially when I just want something to snack on without turning it into a project. The first time I made this as a spread instead, I had it ready in no time, and it tasted exactly like the real thing. Now I make a bowl of this instead, and it never lasts long enough to need a lid.

Dill Pickles and Pickle Juice

The chopped dill pickles and the half teaspoon of pickle juice in this recipe are doing the heavy lifting on flavor, adding the sharp, briny note that makes deviled eggs taste like deviled eggs rather than plain egg and mayo. The pickle juice dissolves into the mayonnaise and sour cream base, seasoning it evenly in a way extra salt alone can’t match. Dill pickle dip uses the same pickle-and-sour-cream base but is baked.

Different from the Traditional Deviled Eggs

Traditional deviled eggs require you to cleanly halve the hard-boiled eggs, remove the yolk without breaking the egg white, pipe or spoon the yolk mixture back into each half, and garnish each one individually. This version skips all of that by roughly chopping the whole eggs and folding them into the prepared dressing, which gives you the same flavor with far less effort. Avocado egg salad and guacamole dip are other scoop-and-serve spread appetizer.

How To Make Keto Deviled Eggs Recipe

This keto deviled eggs recipe gives you roughly chopped boiled eggs folded into dill pickle, Dijon mustard, and mayo base, finished with smoked paprika and fresh herbs. Four steps, one bowl, ten minutes.

Kitchen Gadgets Needed:

  • Mixing Bowl: Holds the spread base and the folded-in eggs comfortably without splashing.
  • Whisk: Blends the mayo, sour cream, mustard, pickle juice, and spices into a smooth base before adding the eggs.
  • Spatula: Folds the chopped eggs through gently so the chunks stay intact rather than getting mashed.

Ingredients Needed:

  • Hard-Boiled Eggs: Four large eggs, peeled, halved, and roughly chopped to keep them chunky.
  • Dill Pickles: The finer the chop, the more evenly the pickle flavor distributes.
  • Mayonnaise: Use a full-fat, clean-label mayo with no added starch or sweetener.
  • Sour Cream: Adds a slight tang and loosens the base, making it spread easily without becoming too thick.
  • Dijon Mustard: This is the sharpest flavor in the bowl, so taste before adding more.
  • Fresh Dill: Fresh dill has a brighter flavor than dried dill.
  • Pickle Juice: The liquid from the pickle jar seasons the base and ties the dill pickle flavor.
  • Ground Black Pepper: A quarter teaspoon plus more to taste. Season the base before the eggs go in.
  • Garlic Powder: Adds a savory background taste without overpowering the dill.
  • Smoked Paprika: For garnish. Adds color and a subtle smokiness on top before serving.
  • Fresh Chives and Dill: Scattered over the top as a garnish just before serving.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKE DEVILED EGGS

First Step: Gather Everything

Gather all your ingredients and set a medium mixing bowl beside your cutting board. If your eggs are not already boiled, bring them to a full hard boil, cool completely in an ice bath, peel the eggs, halve, and roughly chop them into chunky pieces. Finely chop the dill pickles and set both aside while you build the base.

Second Step: Whisk the Base Together

Add the chopped dill pickles, mayonnaise, sour cream, Dijon mustard, fresh dill, pickle juice, black pepper, and garlic powder to the bowl. Whisk until smooth and fully combined. This takes about one minute and should look creamy and uniform before the eggs go in.

Third Step: Fold in the Eggs and Adjust Seasoning

Add the roughly chopped hard-boiled eggs to the bowl and gently fold them in with a spatula. Keep some texture and chunk to the eggs rather than mashing them flat. Taste and adjust the seasoning, adding a little more mustard or black pepper if needed.

Fourth Step: Plate and Serve

Spoon the deviled egg spread generously into a serving bowl or onto a plate and finish with a dusting of smoked paprika and a scatter of fresh chives and dill. This spread works beautifully on toasted farmers’ bread or low carb protein buns. Slice, toast until golden and crispy, and spoon the mixture straight on top. Serve immediately for the best texture.

Zuzana’s Take and Tips:

I mashed the eggs too aggressively on the first batch, and the whole thing turned into a flat paste rather than a chunky, scoopable spread with real texture in every bite. A spatula and three or four gentle folds are all it takes, stopping while there are still visible chunks of egg white. For another dish worth your time, try my keto potato salad.

  • Transfer boiled eggs to an ice bath immediately and let them sit for at least 5 minutes. It makes peeling significantly easier and prevents the egg yolk from developing a grey-green ring at the edge.
  • This spread actually improves with 2 to 4 hours in the fridge as the pickle juice and Dijon work through the mixture more evenly. Cover tightly and make it ahead of time.
  • The Dijon mustard is the most adjustable ingredient in the bowl. Add it in small amounts and taste after each addition so the sharpness does not overtake the dill pickle flavor.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Substitute For Egg Spread Ingredients

You can swap mayonnaise for full-fat Greek yogurt or add more sour cream in the same amount. You can replace Dijon mustard with yellow mustard in the same amount, though the flavor will be milder and less sharp. Fresh dill can be replaced with dried dill at half the amount, or with fresh chives if dill is unavailable.

What To Serve With Low Carb Deviled Eggs?

This spread works well as part of a wider low carb appetizer or snack spread. Crispy keto French fries make an excellent dipper that can hold up to a generous scoop without bending or breaking. Crispy chicken salad makes for a full low-carb meal spread if you want something more filling alongside the eggs.

How Do I Store Easy Keto Egg?

Store the spread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface before sealing the container to prevent it from drying at the edges. Stir gently before serving if any liquid has separated.

Can I Freeze Boiled Eggs with Mayonnaise?

Freezing is not recommended for this spread. The mayonnaise and sour cream base separates after thawing, and the eggs turn rubbery and watery. Make this recipe fresh or store it in the fridge for up to 3 days.

More Tasty Ideas for You

If this spread has earned a place on your regular appetizer list, these are worth trying alongside it. The buffalo chicken salad bowl is another protein-based recipe that works just as well as a main or a shared plate.

Try the tomato and cucumber salad with feta when you want something fresh and light to balance the table, and keep the low carb onion rings in mind as another shareable snack that disappears just as fast as this spread does.
