There is nothing more satisfying in life as when you come up with a dish you remembered from your childhood. The dish you loved so much but was never able to make into the same tasting in our Low Carb Lifestyle as you remembered. And this is what happened with our super famous keto farmers bread.
Eggy Keto Bread
Before I have made Keto Farmers Bread for the first time, I have tried to make Eggy Keto Bread from the various low-carb and keto bread varieties but it never tasted as I remember. I would try it once in a few months, make it, and leave it.
It has never given me any kind of satisfaction and therefore I have never paid any attention to it.
Until I have made our Keto Farmer Bread several times and one day had to come up with a quick solution since our loaf was already a few days old.
I have tried again after several failures to make an eggy bread I remember from my childhood and this is what happened.
We make it now regularly, the whole family loves it, and even though it is a very easy recipe I have to share it with you all. My kids love having it with my homemade apricot jam.
Keto Savory French Toast
Growing up, I have never ever heard or tried sweet French toast. I had no idea such a dish existed. On the other side almost every single week we would indulge in savory eggy bread very similar to what is called a French toast or a French bread.
In the French language, the French toast is called “pain perdu”, which means lost bread. That means a bread that has been already older or harder to the texture to use for eating.
People used to make French Toast mostly from bread, which has been already on a stale side and that is what we use this recipe for as well.
French toast is a thick slice of French bread soaked in eggs and milk mixture, which is subsequently then fried. It has become famous mostly as a sweet treat.
Usually, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla are added into the mixture and fried.
Sprinkled with powdered sugar topped up with berries and poured over with Maple Syrup or Honey, it is one of the very popular breakfast dishes all over the world.
Eggy bread on the other side is very popular in the UK and is made very similar but used toast bread instead and served as a savory dish. Topped up with bacon, eggs, and cold cuts with vegetables, it could be made into sandwiches or served as it is for breakfast.
We have never used toasted bread, and therefore I was not sure how to call it.
I personally feel this is an egg bread and that’s what we call it, but if you search on Google for Egg Bread or a Keto Egg Bread, all you get is a normal bread loaf and that is not what I’m trying to achieve.
Therefore, I’m going to call it both Eggy Keto Bread and Savory French Toast Bread.
Eggy Keto Bread together with savory French toast bread.
Even though I do prefer our Keto Farmers Bread, you can use any type of keto or low carb bread or toast.
This recipe is perfect if you end up suddenly with so many slices needed to be eaten.
The days when you have to use the bread as soon as possible because you know tomorrow you can throw it.
Even though the loaves are already hard and not as soft and fresh, mixing them together with eggs and frying them will soften and freshen them up and you will enjoy it fully.
And somehow, when I make our Eggy Keto Bread, I and my family are able to eat 3 times more loaves as we normally would.
To make our eggy keto bread sweet use the exact same way as you would normally do for a French toast.
Adding a bit of sugar sweetener, cinnamon, and vanilla into the egg mixture will make the bread sweet. You can then top it up with your favorite berries, sprinkle a bit of powder sweetener, or pour sugar-free honey or maple syrup on top.
Another alternative is to look into my perfect keto french toast recipe using brioche bread.
Slovak version of Eggy French Toast Savory Bread
The bread I am used to from my childhood is a mixture of both, the French Toast as well as Eggy Bread.
The difference is that we have always used bread similar to our Keto Farmer’s Bread or more into a French bread type, but made it into a savory breakfast dish.
I have made them with our Keto Steamed Bread, which is another favorite recipe of ours.
Our Keto Fiber Bread Rolls as well as Low Carb Yogurt Buns are perfect as well to make. Just choose one of the Low Carb or Keto Bread Recipe you love and enjoy and try it.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR EGGY KETO BREAD AND SAVORY FRENCH TOAST
First Step: Slice
Pick your most favorite keto or low-carb bread and cut it into slices. It really depends on your likelihood of having the slices thinner or thicker. In this recipe, I have made the slices a bit thicker as I would since most of the people prefer that. But in my instance, I usually cut slices into half of what you see in the pictures.
Second Step: Prepare Egg Mixture
Preparing the egg mixture is pretty easy. All you have to do is put 2 to 3 Eggs into a bowl, depending on how many slices of bread you are going to use.
I sometimes make more than I’m planning to consume since this is a perfect keto snack whenever you are hungry. We like it warm, fresh or cold as well.
Place whole eggs into a bowl, add a little bit of salt and whisk it up until fully combined. You can either use a whisk or a fork, this does not matter. You can have a look at the video or the picture of how fluffy the mixture should be.
Third Step: Soak Slices
Take each slice of the bread and soak it in the Egg mixture from both sides. I normally do this at the same time as I am above the frying pan and place the slices directly onto the pan.
But you can also prepare the soaked egg slices in advance and then place them all one by one into a frying pan.
You do not have to leave the slices in the bread mixture for a long time as some of the softer types of bread might separate and will not hold together.
Fourth Step: Fry
Switch the heat on and add a little bit of butter, coconut oil, or extra-virgin olive oil. Place the slices onto a pan and fry them on medium heat.
Once you see that one side is already done turn it and keep frying the other side.
When both of the sides are done take them out of the frying pan and place them on a plate covered with a paper towel. This will help soak the extra oil we don’t really need.
Tips and Tricks
Bread Soaking – You do not have to leave the slices in the bread mixture for a long time as some of the softer types of bread might separate and will not hold together.
Paper Towel – layer the plate you are planning to place your Fried Eggy Keto Bread on, with a paper towel for soaking up the extra oil.
