Nothing really gets me more excited as whipping up a recipe, that is quick and easy to make and you can use it on more then one occasions.

I have to honestly say, that since we started our Low Carb Journey, I have ignored croutons and stoped using them for years. But as I have made our Keto Farmers Bread and have realized, this is the closest Keto Bread to your ordinary loaf. I started experimentig with it more and more.
We have already tried a few variations of dishes I used to love as a kid, and slowly I will be posting them in here. But for the moment lets stay with our Keto Croutons.
The reason I have jumped to this recipe is, getting another Kitchen Gadget I wanted from my husband – an Air Fryer.
The minute I got it, I got so excited, that I started thinking of anything crispy I can make.
And I have not even read the instructions (not a good idea). Just switched it on and tried. Made Chicken Nuggets and those croutons all on the same day. Both of the dishes were so delicious. I fell in love with our Air Fryer the minute I got it.
What are Croutons?
Croutons are small pieces of bread, coated with a bit of oil and roasted to the crunchy perfection. They could be made from any type of bread you have available. The most important is, that they need to be crispy to the bite. That’s what makes the difference.
As so many recipes, name Croutons comes from French name croûton or croûte, which means crust.
Croutons have been used for century, to use the leftover bread, which was not anymore fresh to store for later.
Various herbs and spices are added to make them unique every-time you make those.
Most of the time, they are cut into small square pieces, but you can make Croutons also from smaller slices of your bread.
Did you know, Croutons have they National day as well? It is 13th of May. Do not forget to celebrate.
What can you use Keto Croutons for?
- As most popular,
they are used as a topping for your Cesar Salad or creamy soups.
- They go perfectly with Tomato Soups of creamy vegetable soups such as Spinach, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cauliflower.
- Our Keto Sausage Sauerkraut Soup or a Roasted Pumpkin Soup are no exceptions.
- Croutons could be also used for your stuffing for the next Thanksgiving dinner.
- You can also grain them for your Breadcrumbs needs.
- And I have to admit, I eat them just as they are instead of my Keto Snacks.
- In France for example, they still use them as a snack to go with your glass of wine.

What is Air Fryer?
For those who are not yet familiar with Air Fryer, it is one of the Kitchen appliances you need, if you are cooking all the time and need some help in making the food fast and always in perfection.
It makes all of your dishes crispy but with the least ammount of oil possible. Sometimes, you do not even need to put an oil in and the food will still crisp. Every dish you can imagine to fry, could be done.
I know, it takes another space from your kitchen. And tell you frankly, I have been thinking of the Air Fryer for over the year already. I never bought it just because of space. And then the whole year was always looking for the smallest possible, so I can save some space, just in case I purchase one.
Since you probably own an Air Fryer, because you are reading this post, there are so many great recipes ou can experiment with. One of them is Air Fryer Teriyaki Chicken and Brussels Sprouts, which is just perfect for a quick dinner.

What Bread do you use for Keto Croutons?
As already mentioned, you can use almost any Keto Bread you have at home. In this recipe, I have used our Keto Farmers bread, which I have baked exclusively for this recipe. I have tried to shape it into more of a square loaf, so it is easier for me to cut square shapes. Also, I have not topped the loaf with additional Fiber for the finishing touch, because, I knew I would not be needed at the end.
So let us get straight into the Steps on how to make those Crunchy Keto Friendly Croutons.
How to make Keto Croutons?
First Step: Cut the bread
Make sure your bread is cooled. Cut it into same size slices and subsequently squares. As you see on the image, I have made rather smaller squares, as I always love everything in smaller variations. For me, it just somehow tastes better as big chunks.
In this recipe I have used half of the Keto Farmers Bread loaf or 200g to be precise.
Second Step: Add Spices
Place all of the croutons into a big bowl. Bowl, which would be spacious enough to mix all the herbs and oil.
Add oil and all of the ingredients, herbs of your choice and a bit of salt and pepper. I have gone with Dry Garlic and Marjoram. Therefore I have not added any salt, because the dry garlic I have, is salty enough and that is more as I need for the flavor.
With a big spatula, mix all of the croutons fully. Do not forget to make sure the oil and herbs are spread evenly.
Third Step: Air Fryer
Depending on your Air Fryer, fill it up with your Keto Croutons. Make sure you only add one layer, otherwise they will not crisp fully.
Fourth Step: Extra Basket
I have purchased an additional basket for my Air Fryer, to be able to make 2 layers of food and therefore can make much much more in one go. The advantage of a basked is, that our Keto Croutons are done evenly from all the sides.
Fifth Step: Fry
Switch the Air Fryer on. You do not need to add additional
My Air fryer is called Tefal Actifry Genius and switching it to 10 minutes makes the croutons done fully. I do not have a choice of setting up the temperature on mine, so you should use the settings you are used to for your own Air fryer.
Sixth Step: Enjoy
After 10 minutes the Crunchy Keto Croutons are ready to be served. Let them cool or serve them still hot or warm. It all depends

Are Croutons Keto Friendly
They are fully Keto or Low Carb, if you are using the Keto Bread to start with. I have also seen some people making Keto Croutons our of the Fathead Dough. As long as the ingredients are low carb, you should be good to go.
Can I eat Croutons on keto
You can, if you make them from a Keto Bread. They are really easy to make and i wonder, why I have never made them before. Oven or an Air Fryer are both perfect for making them.
A perfect addition to our Bread collection is those lovely Keto Italian Breadsticks you can use for Breakfast, dinner, with your soup or as a snack during the day.
Can you make Keto Croutons in the oven ?
The oven is a perfect choice to make your Keto Croutons as well. Just heat up the oven to approximately 180C or 350 F and place it in there for about 15 minutes until fully crisp. It is good, to mix them at least once in the oven. Make sure, they are spread evenly and are not on top of each other.
How do you store Keto Croutons ?
To keep Keto Croutons Crunchy and Crispy at all times, store them in an Air Tight Container.

Can you freeze Keto Croutons?
I personally would not advice freezing the croutons. Once you take them out, the will not be as crispy as they should be.
But if you really like to, just place them back into the oven for few minutes and they should regain the crispiness in no time.
- 2 Cups of Keto Farmers Bread ( 200g) half of the loaf
- 1 Tbsp of Marjoram
- 2Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Garlic Powder
- As I have already mentioned our Keto Farmers Bread is used in this recipe.
