Keto Everything Bagels Recipe

There are already lots of Keto Bagels made with super popular Fathead dough.

But since we do need some changes and as some want to avoid so much cheese, I have decided to go with 2 of the most and regularly used Keto Flour Choices.

Keto Bagels with a mix of Almond and Coconut Flour

Almond and Coconut Flour have been used mostly in Low Carb and Keto baking and cooking. Both are a perfect fit if we look at the number of carbohydrates, but each one of them is special in its own sense.

Almond Flour

Almond flour has got almost no taste in your baking and makes anything baked perfectly soft.

Coconut Flour

Coconut Flour on the other side is flavorful and dries the baked goods if needed.

The difference is, that you only need about ¼ of a Coconut Flour to compare to the almond flour if you are baking one of the Keto Recipes.

And because Bagels needs to be soft, but at the same time a bit dense, I have decided to combine both.

After a few trials, I came to the perfect measurement mixture and I do hope, those Everything Keto Bagels will be your go-to recipe anytime you would wanna have some.

Everything But The Bagels Seasoning

There would be no real Bagels without ever so popular Everything But The Bagels Seasoning.

Homemade is the best, and since I live in Europe, I doubt I would find one ready-made.

As I had to make my own Keto Taco Seasoning, I have to make Bagels mixture as well.

And therefore I have decided to make my own using all of the fresh seeds and herbs I have at home.

And that is the easiest you can do.

No need to buy ready-made seasonings, which for sure contains something additional, so that they stay fresh forever.

Just mix a bit of Poppy Seed, White and Black Sesame Seeds, Onion Flakes, Sea Salt, and Garlic Flakes.

And voila, you have your own Homemade Everything But The Bagels Seasoning ready for whenever you need it.

Sprinkle them on anything you wish or make delicious Everything Bagel Keto Crackers as well.

Black Cumin Seeds

Maybe you have realized, I have swapped Black Sesame for Black Cumin Seeds.

The first reason is that I just could not find Black Sesame seeds in the shop and I had Cumin at home.

The second is that I wanted to make this seasoning extra healthy and if possible, I try to add Black Cumin Seeds to every meal.

Black Cumin Seeds (Nigella Sativa) is a spice mostly used in the Middle East and that is where I have come to learn about them for the first time when we lived in Dubai.

The taste is a combination of oregano, black pepper, and onions and that is exactly what I was looking for to achieve.

What are Keto Bagels made of?

Our Keto bagels are made of Almond and Coconut Flour to get the perfect mixture of softness and a bit of density.

Eggs and cream cheese add to its softness, with Psyllium to combine it all.

A bit of Baking powder to get tiny air bubbles from inside sprinkles with our Homemade seasoning and you have the best ever quick and easy Keto Everything Bagels.

How many carbs are in a bagel?

With our Recipe, you can make approximately 8 middle-size Keto bagels, each consisting of 4g of carbs and 1g of Fiber.

To add to it, 9g of Protein, 20g of Fat, and 231 calories per Bagels do not make those Bagels super low in calories.

How to make Homemade Everything But The Bagels seasoning?

Simply mix a Tablespoon each of Poppy Seed, White and Black Sesame Seeds, Onion Flakes, Sea Salt, and Garlic Flakes.

What do you serve Keto bagels with?

Using spreads or just a plain cream cheese is a perfect idea for toppings.
I have great tips on softening cream cheese quickly if you need to.

But let us not forget Avocado together with Salmon and a bit of lemon and Dill and you have a Breakfast of a Lifetime. Makes me wanna bake them again and again.

But did you know, you can use this same identical recipe for Burger Buns or Bagel Dogs?

Bagel Dogs is something I am leaning towards to make for a long time.

How do you shape Keto Bagels?

After all of my trials, I can confirm, the old fashioned hand-rolling option works the best.

I have tried to bake those Keto Bagels in the Donut silicone baking pan (which you might have seen in my Instagram Stories, where I share all of my daily activity).

They were not bad, but nothing compared to the old method. With your hands, you can perfectly roll the best looking Keto Everything Bagels and it does not take much time as well.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTION FOR THE BEST KETO BAGELS

First Step: Prepare all of the ingredients

Prepare all of your ingredients. As I have suggested in the post, you can either use yogurt or cream cheese at the same amount. I have baked those bagels with both the yogurt as well as Cream cheese and neither I nor my whole family did not see or feel any difference.

I have chosen cream cheese in this recipe after most of my followers on Instagram have requested the cream cheese.

6 Ingredients Keto Bagels

Second Step: Mix dry

Once all of your ingredients are prepared and measured, put all of the dry ingredients together, and mix well.

Make sure you do not have any lumps of almonds or baking powder.

Third Step: Mix Eggs

Using a hand mixer or a kitchen machine, mix all of the eggs together until fully fluffy. You will see they will triple in size and this will give the bagels a beautiful fluffy taste.

Fourth Step: Add Dry ingredients and Cream Cheese

Once the eggs are fully mixed, start adding dry ingredients mixture slowly as well as cream cheese.

As you see on the video I have added, first only half of the dry ingredients and the cream cheese together and only after a few minutes, I have added the leftover of the dry ingredients.

This helps in fully mixing all of the dough properly.

Fifth Step: Rest the dough

Once your dough is fully mixed, using a silicone spatula, clean the sides of the bowl, mix the dough a few times more, and let it rest for at least 10 to 15 minutes.

This will help your dough hold together and it will be much easier to form the Bagels.

Sixth Step: Water on the side

To work with this dough, it is advisable to either add a few drops of oil onto your hands or simply make sure they are wet.

I always have a small bucket filled with water which I use every time I shape the bagels otherwise everything will stick onto your hands directly.

Seventh Step: Roll and Shape

With your wet hands, take part of the dough and start rolling it into a small log. Once it is rolled using your hands, shape the log into the bagels and place it onto the baking tray layered with a silicone baking sheet.

Eight Step: Prepare Seasoning

As I have already mentioned preparing Homemade Everything Bagel Seasoning is the best thing you can do for yourself. You pick the freshest seeds and ingredients you need and all you have to do is mix it all.

I have used 1 Tablespoon of each and just simply mixed it all in one container.

This was more than enough for sprinkling those bagels. You’ll still have lots left which you can use for anything else.

Quick and Easy Keto Bagels

Ninth Step: Spray and Sprinkle

Once your bagels are placed and spread on a baking sheet you can start sprinkling Everything Bagels Seasoning.

I have sprayed every Bagel with water so the seeds will stick onto the bagels.

If you would like, you can just whisk one egg and spread it onto the bagels which will give an extra shine on to the buns.

Tenth Step: Bake

Bake, enjoy, and Bon Appétit.

Tips and Tricks For Keto Everything Bagels Recipe

  • Let the Dough rest – Let the dough rest for at least 10-15 minutes. It will be much easier to work with
  • Water – always wet your hands when shaping the bagels. This particular dough is a bit sticky and having wet hands helps enormously.
  • Yogurt instead of Cream Cheese – The first time I have baked those bagels were with our Cold Start Greek Yogurt. This is a perfect option if you want to avoid Cream cheese as the taste and texture did not change at all.

To store Keto Bagels, you can either leave them at room temperature for 1-2 days or up to 4 days in the refrigerator.

Anything longer, the freezer is your best friend.

Can you freeze Keto Bagels?

You can certainly Freeze Keto Bagels and that is what I do with all of my Keto Bread Recipes.

I normally keep only a few bagels that are going to be eaten the next day. Not more.

Everything else goes after they cool down into the freezer and I always take them out the night before they are needed for Breakfast.

They thaw beautifully on its own, but if you find that they are not as fresh as you would like them to be, just place them into the oven for a few minutes.

  1. This looks delicious! I’ve tried 6 different ways to pin this to Pinterest but it says the parimeters are not right. Please help! I love these kind of bagels!

  2. I don’t usually comment on recipes as I am far too lazy. But these Bagels – oh my – I’ve added onion powder to them and black onion seeds as I like onion bagels but the consistency of them is great. I might re-use them for burger buns or generic dinner rolls. They don’t have any odd flavour that I sometimes get with other rolls using psyllium husk…! Really love. I’m looking forward to eating “bread” again.

  3. Oh no, what happened to my bagels??? Everyone else seems to have had a great experience! So let me tell you, instead of a nice golden brown, ours are gray – they almost look like blueberry donuts! What turned them gray?

Taste wise, they aren’t too bad and probably will be great with seasoned spread, lunch meat, chicken, etc. However, we did make one mistake which we discovered when looking back at the recipe.

You see where the Almond Flour says (1,5 Cups) and the ingredient above it says 2/3 cup – and both are 150g? Yes, well, my husband put in 1 1/2 cups Almond Flour – so I’m sure the texture is a bit different than intended – although not so bad we can’t eat them and they are still soft enough.

    Keto Bagels:
    4 Eggs
150g (2/3 Cup) of Cream Cheese or Yogurt
    150g (1,5 Cups) Almond Flour

BUT, where did the gray color come from and has anyone else turned out gray bagels?

    Reply
    • Dear Melodie,

First of, the purple color is 100% from Psyllium Brand you are using. I have read this quite a few times, where there are certain Brands that turn anything where you add Psyllium into Purple. So I would for sure go ahead and try a different brand of Psyllium.

With regards to 150g, one we were talking about was almond flour and the second was yogurt. Each has got a completely different consistency and therefore the weight might be the same, but the volume varies. And yes, it should be 1,5 Cups of Almond Flour, so your bagels should have worked perfectly (except that grey color)

  4. Zuzana! This is the best recipe for bagels!! Made them this morning after seeing a cooking show making high carb bagels and made me crave them! I found your recipe and made them. These are tender, tasty and hit every note! Thanks for this recipe, now my favorite bagel!

  5. I love your recipes but I don’t love the fact that I am asked to sign up for an account. I am not a business, I just love trying out different keto recipes, so I did not sign up. By the way, I made your brown sugar recipe, it was very easy.

  6. Would it be possible to sub in some protein powder for any of the dry ingredients? I’ve never used it in baking, only smoothies.
