Strawberry Picking Fields

Love the beginning of the summer, when all of the berries start to grow. As we live in the center of Vienna, our garden does not give us enough of berries as we would like.

And therefore I love the idea they have here as well as in my country, where you can for a small amount go directly to a field and pick as many as you want. 

This weekend we went Strawberry picking in the fields on our way from a mini trip. It was already in the afternoon so I guess all of the clever pickers went first thing in the morning to pick the best of the best from strawberries. 

And for us, all that was left were kind of not fully ripe pinkish color strawberries. They were still sweet and delish, but half-ripe only. 

Since we were already there, we have decided that each of us takes a bucket and pick a few anyway. And so we did. I mean, to get the strawberries into the supermarket, they are picked fully green. Don’t they?

Ask the lady if it’s ok and if they will ripe later on at home. She confirmed and there we went. Picked 2 full trays, which I have later on nicely placed with stems down on a big baking tray and next to the window to wait. 

I have actually planned to wait a few days to a week until they are fully ripe. 

Guess what?

The next morning I went to check and 99% of them were fully dark red and ready to eat. Can you believe that?

And there went my shock and stress to quickly use them. 

I have already made Keto Berry Coffee Cake with strawberries, decorated Keto Coconut Ice Cream with them, and made Homemade Keto Fruit Roll-Ups.

So a perfect idea was to make some drinks with them.

First Step: Prepare all Ingredients

First of all, prepare all of the ingredients.

In case of a Magic Bullet, I will suggest cutting strawberries into smaller pieces to be able to whip up a perfect keto smoothie and split the Recipe in half. 

For a blender just use the whole clean strawberries.

If you have a minute in the garden try to pick the nice bigger leaves that are directly fresh to give the perfect freshness and which flavor into your keto smoothie.

With regards to the liquid, you can pour both almond milk as well as heavy cream into one cup beforehand.

If you want to store it for longer I will suggest placing it directly into the freezer.

The best is, that once frozen, you have a perfect ice cream from this Keto Smoothie.
