Keto Chips
Those of you, who are following me for a while, have probably already realized, I am a specialist in Keto Chips and Keto Pastas.
My Keto Snack adventure started first with Viral Keto Popcorn, which was followed by ever popular Cheese Bacon Nachos, Fried Cheese Balls, Sesame Keto Crackers, Cheese Puffs, Goldfish Crackers, Cheesy Bread Bites and many more.
It never stops. For me, coming up with another Crispy Crunchy Keto Snack is, what drives me forward.
It would not be me, to always get the easiest possible recipe together and I have not disappointed you this time.
Chaffle
By now, I am sure you all have already heard of Chaffle and for sure tried some.
They have been made already in thousand of different varieties. Sweet, savory, spicy, desserts, cakes, and so on.
Whatever you desire, Chaffles are here and will stay in forever.
What is a Chaffle?
For those, that are new to the name, Chaffles came from Waffles, but because of the main ingredient being Cheese, the letter W has been replaced with the letter Ch (cheese).
It has been popular between our Keto and Low Carb Community ever since and Mini Chaffle Maker has been sold ever since.
After I made our Yogurt Keto Chaffle perfect for sandwiches, I experienced a bit with something sweet for our super yummy Keto Smores or a Chocolate Chaffle you can make Perfect Mini Chaffle Cake with.
And as Chaffles are super popular and extra easy to make, this 1 Ingredient only Chaffle Crisp Recipe needs to be shared.
Chaffle Chips
Combining Keto Chips with Chaffle, and this only with one ingredient is close to a miracle.
And wait once you try them.
Super Crispy even after storing them for days. What more do you need?
Keto Snack for Camping
I took mine in a box for our Sunday walk through the forest with few friends.
When I offered them those (still crunchy) Keto Chaffle Chips, they were really surprised how great it tasted.
Asked me several times what ingredients are in.
I always replied Cheese, but they still asked … and what else?
I said nothing … only Cheese….
They asked ok, cheese, and … what else….?
They could not understand how those chips could be made with only cheese and taste so good.
Now they know and now they make them at home weekly.
And they even ordered Mini Dash Chaffle Maker to have perfect Chaffle Chips.
To make those super Crispy Keto Chaffle Chips or Crisps, you can use any hard cheese you desire and prefer.
I have already tried it with a few and they all worked.
Just make sure it is a hard cheese as anything soft will not harden.
To pick, I am going to suggest a few for you:
Provolone Cheese
Cheddar Cheese
Asiago Cheese
Emmental Cheese
Parmigiano – Reggiano Cheese
Gouda Cheese
Edam Cheese
Colby Jack
Muenster Cheese
Monterey Jack
Swiss Cheese
Even though, my recipe is using only cheese, you can certainly spice it up a bit.
You can add various herbs, spices or veggies to it.
I would suggest a few:
Italian Spice
Bacon
Dry Garlic
Everything Bagels
Pickles
Jalapeno Peppers

How to make 1 Ingredient only Keto Chaffle Chips?
Kitchen Gadgets needed:
- Mini Dash Chaffle Maker
- Cheese Shredder
Ingredients needed:
- Hard Cheese
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR KETO CHAFFLE CHIPS
First Step: Shred the Cheese
Using either a manual shredder or your kitchen machine, shred your cheese.
For each Chaffle you would need ¼ of a cup, so it depends on how many you would like to use.
I normally make those Chips in double or triple quantity as they can be stored for a long time.
Second Step: Scoop
Heat your Mini Dash, Chaffle Maker.
Once hot, place scoop ¼ of a cup filled with shredded cheese into the middle.
You do not need to oil the Chaffle as with many recipes, because the fat from the cheese will make sure, they are not going to get stuck.
Third Step: Close
Wait for a minute for the base of the cheese to start melting.
Gently close the lid and its pressure will spread the cheese fully throughout the whole Chaffle maker.
Depending on the type of Cheese and its Fat Content, you might see fat melting and drip down.
That is ok, just make sure you have your Chaffle maker on a plate for easier cleaning.
Fourth Step: Take Out
Let it cook for about 5 minutes until it is easy to open and Chaffle is not sticking.
Gently lift the whole Chaffle and take it out of the Chaffle Maker.
Place it on a separate plate.
Fifth Step: Cut
Immediately, when the Chaffle is taken out of the Maker, using your scissors or knife, cut it into desired shapes.
You have to make that while the Chaffle is still warm and soft.
It hardens and crisps within seconds.
Tips and Tricks
- Cut immediately – you have to cut your Chaffle into desired shapes immediately after your Chaffle is made. It hardens within seconds of taking it out of the Chaffle maker.
- No need Oil spray – for this recipe you do not have to spray Dash Mini Maker as the fat from the cheese will make those chips impossible to stick onto the machine as some Chaffles might.
- Fat from Cheese – be aware, that quite a lot of fat will be dripping from the cheese during the process of making those Chaffle Chips. Make sure you have a plate under, which could catch all of the residue.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How can you store Chaffle Chips?
Storing Chafffle Chips in an Air Tight Container in your Pantry will make sure, they are as crispy as on a day of making them.
You do not need to keep them refrigerated.
You can also leave them on a kitchen counter for a few days.
I have and they stayed crispy even on a 3rd day.
Can you freeze Chaffle Chips?
Since Keto Chaffle Chips do not need to be refrigerated and will stay crispy in your Pantry for a very long time, I do not see the reason for freezing them.
I have not tried it and because of its crispiness, freezing them might make them moist once thawed.

Keto Cheese Snacks
Delicious keto cheese snacks we enjoy often.
OMG, I thoroughly enjoyed reading thru this recipe! I was kind of surprised to learn about using a mini waffle type maker – what a great idea! I have been making a version of these (though quite flat like crackers), by using my microwave & a paper plate or 2 bc of amt of fat/ grease that results… & I am very bad bc they don’t last me long, as I pick them off as they come out & harden.
I wanted to just add an observation – on type of cheese & the ‘grate’ of it that I’ve found works best…. PARMESAN – VERY COARSELY GRATED. I have a habit of buying pre-grated/ shredded cheese that I pick up/ have delivered frm Wlmt Mkt. It seems like the more coarse it is, they come out much crispier – maybe bc it has more air pockets? I’m.not sure, but it seems like it makes more sense…
I got the idea when I was stupid enough to spend a ridiculous amt of $ on pre-pkgd ‘Whisps’… that I went thru the entire pkg of in no time! Then looking at the only 1 ingredient, I thought I could make them just as easily & probably more and/or cheaper than what they were selling them for – for such a tiny quantity…
Parmesan also seems to be the BEST cheese for best results & hardens the best… but then, I’ve been basically addicted to it ever since I was a kid when my Italian grandmother grated it for our huge family Sunday dinners (& I would take a spoon to the bowl when nobody was looking!) Just something about the salt content maybe, since I was always been more of a skinny savory kid vs sweets (until the’change’ changed all of that)!
Since going KETO (again, after falling off yrs ago bc of the stress of losing someone) – no excuses, I know… but I am super glad to have come across your website & all the other wonderful ideas to diversify! For the past yr (esp w the pandemic), Ive been basically eating nothing more than a few huge 6lb soppressata & too many wedges of Parmesan… with a few cups of coffee w heavy cream & skinnny syrups (that are becoming my downfall again for some reason).
Anyhow, I just wanted to say thank you! I am just so excited to try a few of the new recipes I’ve printed out lately… and really looking esp forward to making my own meringues (w thanks also to Amazon for those hard to get finds!)
What a great observation you have in here. So so helpful for so many readers. With the crispiness, I have found whatever cheese I made, it did crisp fully in the Mini Chaffle Maker. But will for sure try your parmesan idea. I do hope you will enjoy my recipes and they will help you to stay with Keto or Low Carb for a long time.
What kind of cheese did you use?
You can actually use any kind of hard cheese. Even cheddar. I have used Emethaler.
Can you use preshredded cheese? I have quite a bit in my fridge to use up.
Thanks
You sure can
I made it with pre shredded cheddar and it was a messy glob. I really was hoping this would work. Suggestions?
Maybe try to leave it a little bit longer to cook. Normally when you open the Chaffle maker earlier, it is all sticky.
Is it also possible to make them in a silicon waffle tin in the oven or in the microwave?
Thanks for your help!
For sure it will work. Just make sure the cheese does not burns in the oven.
