What is Green Goddess Dressing?

The Palace Hotel in San Francisco was originally the birthplace of Green Goddess Dressing.

It was inspired by the star guest George Arliss, who got this Green Goddess dressing served on the starter salad.

The original recipe was heavily based on mayonnaise, which we omitted in this recipe.

Following on from the Green Goddess Dressing, later on, sold and produced by Kraft Foods, this super healthy, bright green, tangly and smooth dressing has gained its popularity ever since.

Is Green Goddess Dressing Vegan?

Carefully selecting all of the ingredients, our green salad dressing is not only vegan but fully Keto, Low Carb, Gluten-free, Grain-Free, Diabetic Friendly, as well as Vegetarian and Sugar-Free.

How many calories are in Green Goddess Dressing?

Whether you will use this green goddess as a salad dressing, dip, or sauce, I have calculated all with ¼ cup as a portion.

With this in mind and remembering how many great ingredients are in, a mere 154 grams of calories are a perfect amount to fill you up for a while.

How many Carbohydrates are in Green goddess Salad Dressing?

The green goddess dressing recipe consists of 12 ingredients, each more valuable than the other.
One portion, which is a quarter of a cup, brings you to 6 grams of carbohydrates and 2 grams of fiber.

Calculating net carbs, where one deducts fiber from total carbs, a perfect 4 grams of net carbohydrates are in a portion of this keto dressing.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKING THE HEALTHIEST VEGAN GREEN GODDESS DRESSING

First Step: Ingredients needed for green goddess dressing

First, gather all of the ingredients together.

It may seem a lot from the start but believe me, this recipe is the easiest one can have.

Regarding the greens, I have picked fresh spinach, basil, chives, and parsley.

You can, of course, alternate, swap, or exchange any of them for your liking.

The most crucial thing in this recipe is the nutritional yeast which is a significant cornerstone ingredient for the Vegans, but also it is a perfect idea for keto and low-carb lifestyle.

Nutritional yeast gives you enormous flavors, and together with almonds or nuts, it will blend this dressing into a perfectly creamy consistency.

Second Step: Start with liquids.

Let us start. Using your blender, place all of the liquids first onto the base of the container.

It is extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar in our case.

Third Step: Add Greens

Next comes all the greens, which in our case are spinach, parsley, basil leaves, and chives.

Fourth Step: Onion and garlic

The following comes onion and garlic.

You can, of course, add more garlic if you would like, and onion can be swapped for a shallot.

Just make sure you use white onion instead of the dark one to get your color of the green goddess dressing as bright and green as possible.

Fifth Step: Dry Ingredients

Dry ingredients such as nutritional yeast, salt, and nuts follow last.

Regarding the nuts I have chosen almonds, but you can pick whatever nuts or seeds you prefer.

Also, it is best to have almonds without the skin to get the brightest green color once again.

Sixth Step: Blend

Now it is the time for magic.

Follow your blender instructions and switch the blender on puree.

You can also use a Food Processor if you do not own a blender.

Let it blend thoroughly and check for consistency.

If you need, repeat the blending once again.

That’s what I have done as I have realized with nut butters, dressings, or dips to get the real smooth consistency, my blender works best if I repeat the process.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Blend twice – If you find that your green goddess dressing is not as smooth as you would wish to, repeat the blending process once again.
  • Nuts – If you were going to use walnuts or cashew nuts or any other nuts in that matter,  it is advisable to soak them in advance to get the best creaminess.
  • Onion – Onion can be replaced with shallots. Just make sure you use white-colored onion to keep the bright green color of the salad dressing.
  • Smoothie – Do not wash or clean the blender once you’re finished with the dressing.
  • Just add half or one cup of water and blend it once again. You will end up with a perfect smoothie for your breakfast.
  • Spicy – add fresh jalapeno if you want to add spiciness to your salad dressing.
  • Avocado Green Goddess Dressing – adding half of an avocado is a perfect idea in case you would like to go even further with nutrition.
