How To Make Bacon Wrapped Brussels Sprouts

Let us dive into the complete steps to make the best-ever bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts recipe. I have also made a video with full instructions for those who prefer more visual guidance.

Kitchen gadgets needed:

  • Baking sheet
  • Parchment paper
  • Fingerfood mini skewers

Ingredients needed:

  • Bacon
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Cheese

*Exact measurements are listed in the recipe card below.

STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR BRUSSELS SPROUTS WRAPPED IN BACON

First Step: Prepare ingredients

Prepare all ingredients together.

Fully clean Brussels sprouts, trim the stem ends, and discharge the outer layers.

Really thin bacon strips are best to get an incredible crispness into it.

With regards to cheese, as I always advise, buy a whole block of cheese and grate it at home. It will give you the freshest possible shredded cheese and avoid all the starches in store-bought shredded cheese.

At the same time, preheat oven to 200 degrees Celsius or 400 Degrees Fahrenheit.

Second Step: Wrap

Fully dry your Brussels sprouts. Take one piece and one strip of bacon. If the piece of bacon slice is too broad, you can fold it or cut it into two parts. It all depends on how much bacon you want in one roll.

As you see in the video, wrap each Brussels sprout with bacon using a cutting board or any work surface you are using.

Continue until all of the pieces are wrapped.

Third Step: Top Up and Bake

Lay the bacon wrapped sprouts onto a rimmed baking sheet lined with parchment paper and top up with shredded cheese.

Sprinkle with salt and pepper if needed, depending on how salty bacon is.

Place into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until bacon is crisp.

Fourth Step: Finger food Skewers

Once all the roasted Brussels sprouts are baked, secure with a toothpick or finger food mini skewer.

Place onto a serving dish and sprinkle with fresh thyme for extra flavor.

TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKE THIS RECIPE:

  • Bacon – depending on how much bacon you want, you can fold a thick strip into half as I did. You can also cut the bacon in half and use only one layer.
  • Caramelized – Lightly brush each strip with maple syrup before baking for extra sweetness.
  • Swaps – bacon strips can be swapped with prosciutto or pancetta.
  • Cheese – always use a block of cheese and shred it at home.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Substitute For Bacon

For a bacon-free alternative, consider using thinly sliced prosciutto or pancetta to wrap the Brussels sprouts, providing a similar salty and savory flavor.

Another option is to use strips of smoked tofu or tempeh, which can add a smoky element to the dish while catering to a vegetarian or vegan diet.

What Dipping Sauce to Serve With Those Brussel Sprouts?

When pairing a dipping sauce with bacon-wrapped Brussels sprouts, you have a wide range of options based on your taste preferences.

The rich and creamy cheese dip complements the smoky flavors of the bacon. For a bold and spicy kick, consider zesty enchilada sauce

Cranberry sauce can provide a tangy and fruity contrast if you prefer a hint of sweetness.

Pair the sprouts with a creamy ranch dressing or green goddess vegan dressing, packed with fresh herbs and a creamy texture for a classic choice.

Salsa and guacamole provide a vibrant and flavorful combination, while a beet spread adds a unique earthy touch.

How Can I Reheat Wrapped Brussels Sprouts?

To reheat wrapped Brussels sprouts, place them in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-15 minutes until heated.

You can also use a microwave by heating them in short bursts, checking and stirring until they reach your desired temperature.

Can I Make Wrapped Brussels Sprouts In The Air Fryer?

You can certainly use air fryer instead of oven. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and cook them for approximately 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through or until the bacon is crispy and the Brussels sprouts are tender.

How Do You Store Bacon-Wrapped Brussels Sprouts?

Let Brussels sprouts become cool completely.

Store leftover bacon wrapped Brussels sprouts in an airtight container. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat before serving.

Can You Freeze Crispy Bacon Wrapped Brussel Sprouts?

Yes, you can freeze crispy sprouts. After cooling completely, place them in a freezer-safe container or freezer bag, removing as much air as possible. They can be stored in the freezer for 2-3 months.  When ready to enjoy, thaw them in the refrigerator overnight and reheat in the oven or air fryer until heated.
