Our Sausage Balls are super quick and easy to make. All done, baked, and served in less than 30 minutes is the most important point, which actually excites me. I love quick and easy recipes and love sharing them with you.

Our Keto Sausage Balls are not made with Bisquick. They do not contain cream cheese, but a better option, which is sour cream. Made with Keto Sausage as per our recipe, there is nothing simpler than just following a few steps. 

What Sausage to use for making Sausage Balls?

The best sausages to use for our Sausage balls are, of course, homemade as you know exactly what is inside. Also, all of the homemade seasoning you put in is 100% keto and made from the best ingredients and spices you have. 

But there are times when we just do not have energy or time to make our own sausages, and for this, here are some of the examples you can buy:

The best dip, in my humble opinion, is a ranch dressing, which I have included here, and I made a perfect recipe for you. There are, of course, other additional choices you can pick from:

How To Make Sausage Balls

How To Make Sausage Balls

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS TO MAKING THE EASIEST SAUSAGE BALLS RECIPE

First Step: Ingredients needed for Keto Sausage Balls

Heat your oven to 200 Celsius or 390 Fahrenheit.

The first step is to prepare all of your ingredients.

If you have already read the beginning of my blog post, you would have realized that I am using our homemade sausage, which I prepared for you as well, together with homemade sausage seasoning

If you’re not ready to make your own, you can pick from any of the choices above.

Cream cheese is replaced with sour cream because I feel it is much lighter and will definitely lower calories.  

Additionally, the taste of sour cream in this recipe is in my opinion fabulous. 

Regarding the cheese, you can use any of your favorite cheese. 

Please make sure you shred your cheese at home, as already pre-shredded cheese contains lots of unnecessary starches, which will just raise your carbohydrate intake and is not needed at all. 

A cup of Almond flour could also be replaced with ground almonds. I usually use the ones without the skin for a lighter look. 

I have not added any other spices as our homemade sausage is already fully seasoned.

Second Step: Prepare your sausage

The next step is to prepare your sausage. 

As you see in the image, I have used our homemade sausage, which has been filled into the natural casing. Even though the casing is natural and a great source of collagen, it is not needed in this recipe, and that’s why I have opened it and used only everything from inside. 

Place all of the sausages into a big bowl where you will be mixing our cheesy sausage balls.

Third Step: Add Ingredients and mix

Once your sausage is in the bowl you can start adding all of the other ingredients which is almond flour shredded cheese as well as sour cream.

Mix all together, making sure everything is well combined.

Fourth Step: Scoop

Now it is time to shape your sausage balls.

To make the sausages exactly the same in size, it is easiest to use either a spoon or if you have an ice cream scoop.

Using a scoop take the amount from the mixture, and using your hands, roll nicely into a bowl.

Fifth Step: Bake

Once you’re finished rolling all of the sausage balls, you can prepare them for baking. 

As you see, I have used cast iron for baking, but you can use any of the pans which fit into the oven or a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.

Layer all sausage balls onto the cast iron and bake at 200 Celsius or 390 Fahrenheit for approximately 25 minutes.

Serve immediately and enjoy with ranch dressing or any other dips or sauces I have mentioned above in the article.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Spiciness – Add a teaspoon of red pepper flakes
  • Almond flour replacement – coconut flour, but only use 1/4th of it
  • Sour cream can be substituted with cream cheese
  • Breadcrumbs – you can additionally roll them in a breadcrumbs if you wish

Just place them into a glass container with a cover and store them in the fridge, where they will last for approximately 3 to 4 days.

You can use them cold for breakfast, low carb appetizers, snacks for your kids, or a quick lunch.

These low-carb sausage balls are perfect for freezing. 

Place them into the mason jar or Ziploc bag and straight into the freezer.

  • 500 grams Sausage
  • 1/2 Cup (100 grams) Sour Cream
  • 1 Cup Shredded Cheese
  • 1 Cup (125 grams) Almond Flour

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 200 Celsius or 390 Fahrenheit. Prepare your sausage, sour cream, almond flour and cheese of your choice.
