Quick and Easy Keto Dessert

Be it Valentine’s day, Mother’s Day, or a special event, our low-carb chocolate-dipped strawberries should always be on the top list. They are unbelievably quick, delicious and easy to make, and everyone loves them.

I have till now yet to meet a person who would not like berries dipped in chocolate ganache. A person, who does not like chocolate and strawberries in general. It’s easy to make, and it is the easiest of all keto recipes.

Chocolate Magic Shell as a Melted Chocolate Coating

I made this recipe for you as I prepared the perfect chocolate magic shell, which you can use mainly for your ice cream.

With a slight alteration, this recipe is perfect for dipping any berries like this recipe or alternatively chocolate covered blueberries.

All you need is a few minutes to enjoy them fully.

Calories in a Sugar Free Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Using one of our homemade chocolates, the best coconut oil, and fresh organic strawberries, also known as Fragaria, clearly indicates that this perfect dessert not heavy on calories or carbohydrates.

One medium size chocolate strawberry comes to only 19 calories.

That is one of the lowest-calorie keto desserts you can have. There is nothing more stopping you from enjoying it.

How Many Carbs are in Chocolate Dipped Strawberries?

With our recipes, you get 1g of total carbohydrates per medium size strawberry covered with sugar-free chocolate.

With 0 fiber, net carbs per serving come to the same 1g.

I have calculated the nutrition per strawberry, as to me, that sounds more detailed. You know exactly how many pieces you can have, not to cross your daily target.

And as you see, strawberries on keto are a power fruit, with chocolate-covered strawberry carbs kept at a minimum.

What is a Keto Approved Chocolate?

Once you read the labels, every chocolate with low grams of carbohydrates and sweetened with one of the keto friendly sweeteners falls into the approved keto diet chocolate.

You can pick dark, white, and even milk chocolate for our recipe. Try to choose a good quality chocolate if you are not making your own.

Keto Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate Covered Strawberries

With so many keto and sugar-free chocolate options, choosing the right one is difficult.

I have a clear answer to it.

Homemade Sugar-Free Chocolates

On top of the list comes our homemade sugar-free chocolate bars.

You make it yourself, pick your ingredients, and know precisely that nothing unwanted is inside.

With our homemade sugar-free dark chocolate chipswhite chocolate bar, and white chocolate chips, you do not even have to go to the shop and search for the best keto chocolate or dark chocolate chips. I have used these for recipes like chocolate peanuts clusters and so many more.

Make it at home and enjoy either with your morning cold brew coffee or as a perfect keto addition that can not be missed in your pantry for various desserts.

Store-Bought Sugar-Free Chocolate Chips

Of course, comes a time when you do not have the energy or time to make your chocolates.

For this reason, comes the second option, which would be store-bought chocolates.

Various brands are now selling sugar-free, low-carb, keto, or no sugar added chocolates.

As I always insist, read your labels. Buying sugar-free chocolate does not always mean they are healthy or really low in carbohydrates.

Some brands I love and buy are:

  • Lakanto
  • Lilly’s Chocolates
  • Cavalier
  • Torras
  • Choc Zero
  • The Good Chocolate

Decorating Tips for Low Carb Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Depending on the occasion and likeness, you can add a little extra to the taste and look of those keto strawberries.

Just before your chocolate hardens, sprinkle those strawberries with toppings such as:

To get even more inspiration, you can melt some white chocolate bars or chocolate chips and coconut oil and add natural food coloring for a blast of your lifetime.

STEP BY STEP GUIDE TO CREATING HOMEMADE KETO CHOCOLATE-COVERED STRAWBERRIES RECIPE

First Step: Ingredients

First off, prepare all of your ingredients.

Try to get the freshest, organic berries. It is best when strawberries are in season. Try to avoid soft and damaged pieces, as those will get bad under the chocolate quickly.

Wash the strawberries well and tap dry.

Place your strawberries into the refrigerator. Chocolate sauce harden the chocolate immediately on cold strawberries, and you will have less chocolate falling from the strawberries.

The choice of chocolate depends on you, as I already mentioned in the above.

You can either make your homemade or buy one of the suggested bars.

Chipping chocolate bars into smaller pieces is good idea as they will melt much faster.

For coconut oil, try to get organic, the one with the least coconut flavor.

Some of the coconut oils can have an intense coconut taste. Once you melt chocolate and coconut oil, you do not want it to overpower the taste of chocolate.

Second Step: Chocolate Ganache

For the chocolate ganache, prepare a double boiler.

As you see in the images or the video attached above, melt the chocolate chips or bar first on low heat.

Once you melt the chocolate halfway, add coconut oil, steering regularly. Let it melt until both of the ingredients combine.

Once everything is fully melted and combined, place aside and let the chocolate sauce cool down to room temperature mixing it regularly.

Third Step: Prepare for Dipping

Once your melted chocolate has cooled down, you can prepare everything for strawberry coating.

Try to pick a tall glass that is narrow enough.

You can either use a small mason jar or water glass with a width wide enough to be able to dip a strawberry in.

Anything too wide would require you to make double the amount of chocolate sauce.

Fourth Step: Dip

Once you’re ready to submerge your strawberries, take them out of the refrigerator, and use a kitchen towel to make sure they’re dry all around.

The excellent advice is to stick each strawberry onto one of the barbecue’s wooden sticks, as this will help you with the dipping process and drying.

As the video shows, gently dip your strawberry into the melted chocolate and rotate to cover all sides. Once the strawberry is covered in chocolate, slowly take it out of the glass.

Let the remaining chocolate drip back into the glass jar and place the strawberry to harden either on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper or, if you have used wooden barbecue sticks, into the tall glass or a vase.

If you’re planning to use additional toppings or decorations, sprinkle immediately after dipping the strawberries, as that is when the chocolate is not yet fully hardened. All of the extra toppings will stick onto the chocolate and sets together.

Tips and Tricks

  • Cool Berries – I always advise placing the strawberries, or any berries used, into the fridge first, as cold berries stick better and make the chocolate harden much faster.
  • Dry Berries – Use a kitchen towel to ensure your strawberries are fully dry. Chocolate will stick to them much better.
  • Parchment Paper – Once you plan to place the chocolate strawberries for hardening, use either parchment paper or a cling film.
  • Placement – Do not place strawberries directly onto the plate. Chocolate will harden and stick to the plate. It is much easier to move them later on from either parchment paper or a cling film.
  • Excess chocolate – Any chocolate left, store in the covered container in your fridge. If needed, microwave the chocolate for 30 seconds, let it cool and use it again.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Can You Make Keto Chocolate Covered Strawberries Ahead of Time?

You can undoubtedly make chocolate-covered strawberries ahead of time.

Make sure your strawberries are fresh.

Discharge damaged pieces, to avoid strawberries go bad under the chocolate cover. You can prepare the strawberries in advance and store them in the refrigerator.

How Do You Get Chocolate To Stick To Strawberries?

Ensure each berry is completely dry to get the chocolate stick onto the strawberries without a problem.

Using a kitchen towel, dry them thoroughly, and then you should have no problem with the chocolate sticking to the strawberries.

I also advise placing the strawberries in the refrigerator for a while, as the cold strawberries will ensure the chocolate will harden much faster.

How To Prevent Chocolate Strawberries From Sticking to Each Other?

To prevent strawberries from sticking to one another, I like to place them on a cling film apart from each other till they harden. Then gently peel the cling film and put it on a serving tray.

Another option is to place them into a tall glass with the sticks in, as you see in the video.

Should Strawberries Be Cold Before Dipping In Chocolate?

This is a tricky question as some people say yes, and some people reply with no as an answer.

My suggestion is yes, it is much better if your strawberries are cold, as the chocolate will not only stick faster onto them but will also harden much faster. That will make sure that the chocolate will not drip from the strawberries.

Storing Sugar-Free Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Once you finish making our keto chocolate-covered strawberries recipe, let them cool down on the kitchen counter on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet or a cling film.

Once cooled, you can store them in a glass container in the refrigerator for up to two days.

I would only suggest storing them briefly as strawberries and berry fruit do not last long.

Can You Freeze Chocolate Covered Strawberries?

I would not suggest freezing the strawberries because of the actual fruits. Once unfrozen, the berries will become mushy and less delicious.
