Our Avocado Egg Salad is one side dish I make regularly. Guacamole is on the other side, always in the fridge whenever we have guests or need a dip for our crackers

I add it to almost anything, especially when preparing one of the Taco dishes, making Naruto Rolls or Sushi.

But the most I enjoy eating avocados are for breakfast with lots of Everything Bagel Seasoning on top. Fabulous.

Keto Burger Buns

We do have some Keto Buns or Rolls, which you can use instead of ordinary Buns in making your Burgers

Portobello buns are a great choice, but Lettuce Wraps, to me, are a bit messy.

Burger with Avocado is not only good-looking but extra delicious.

You can also experiment with our Bacon Keto Burger, which is extra moist and with the addition of bacon out of this world.

Avocado on a Burger

Does it happen to you as often as it occurs to me? I see a picture of some dish and instantly fall in love with it, even without tasting it.

The same magic happened in my head when I first saw an Avocado Burger.

There was this new avocado-only restaurant opening, and all I could see all over the internet were those beautiful magical images of avocados in different forms and shapes.

Instant Love. Or love at first sight.

I had to run around the whole town to get the best avocados to make lovely images.

Used our Keto Burger Mini Bites Recipe, and the magic was done.

What is Avocado Burger?

Avocado Burger or Avocado Bun Burger is a dish, of course, keto, where a burger with all of the veggies and its condiments is covered from the bottom and topped with an avocado sliced into half.

Avocado Bun Burger is simply replacing regular buns with Avocado and stuffing them with burgers and other delicates.

How to slice an Avocado for Burger buns?

In the pictures, you can see there are 2 different shapes of the avocado burger is made into.

Slicing it lengthwise is easier to serve and consume.

But slicing it crosswise looks more appetizing for me.

It even reminds me of a little Christmas Tree. And that is what I have served on our Christmas Table.

For the second flat avocado sandwich, I have made a few burgers into a longer shape, as you can see in the images below.

It depends on you, what you want to fill it with. My recipe is only a suggestion, so please experiment and tell me which one is your favorite.

Is Avocado Keto?

Avocado is not only Keto but one of the main ingredients in Keto lifestyle. It has the best nutrition, flavor, density, and healthy fats with very low carbohydrates.

Avocado is one of the fruits, apart from berries, fully allowed in the keto diet.

How many carbs have avocado?

Even though avocado is very low in carbs and Glycemic Index, they still have some.

The whole avocado has approximately 12 grams of carbohydrates. But being extremely rich in Fiber, the net carbs come to around 3 grams only.

Can you eat Avocado on Keto?

The answer is not only yes, but you should eat and include avocado into your daily meal plan.

What types of avocados are best for Avocado Buns?

To make perfectly looking avocado buns and make sure avocado stands on a burger, you should pick the ripe avocado, which is still firm from the inside.

Very soft and mushy avocado will not be able to hold the shape of a bun once built.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE BEST BURGERS WITH AVOCADO BUNS

First Step: Prepare Ingredients for Avocado Burger

Prepare all of the ingredients for making an avocado bun burger.

For the avocado, try and pick a more rounded, nicely shaped avocado that is soft but still firm from the inside.

Regarding the burger, as I have mentioned above, I have made our low-carb burgers, but you can also choose a bacon burger or the burger of your choice.

The rest of the ingredients are all up to you. I have picked some bacon, tomato, radish, cucumber, lettuce, cheese, and sesame seeds for the topping.

Second Step: Halve Avocado

Using a sharp knife, cut the avocado in half.

As you see in the video, I have slightly cut out the middle because the avocado I have used was very tall, but that is not the case you might have.

Third Step: Cut the base

The lower part of the avocado is cut into a small base for the avocado to stand correctly.

Fourth Step: Peel

Gently peel all of the avocado skin, making sure the avocado itself looks pretty.

Fifth Step: Layer veggies and burger

Place the base of the avocado on the plate and start layering your veggies, burger, bacon, and lettuce.

Sixth Step: Top up with Avocado Bun and attach.

The last part is to place the top of the avocado on a bun.

As you see in my video, because I have used so many toppings, the whole avocado would not stand on its own.

Therefore I picked a barbecue stick to attach the whole avocado in the middle.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Slice – you can slice the avocado lengthwise for easier serving or Crosswise for better looking and Christmas decoration.
  • Base – base of the avocado needs to be cut for it to stand
  • Avocado – use ripe avocados that are still firm
  • Burger – it is best to prepare smaller burgers to fit the avocado.
  • Toppings – choose to sprinkle with seeds of your liking. I have used sesame seeds, but I love our Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • Sauces – you can add Basil Pesto or Wild Garlic Pesto onto the burger.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

What to serve with Avocado Bun Burgers?

You can serve various side dishes same as you would typically serve with an ordinary burger, such as:

How do you store Avocado Burger?

Although it is best to serve it and eat it straight away, there is an option to store it.

You can simply store this avocado bun burger in the refrigerator.

If you have already made the avocado buns to prevent the avocado from darkening, spread lemon juice around the whole avocado for the color to stay bright green.

It should last in the refrigerator for about two days.

If you want to freeze avocados, that is also possible.

Can you freeze whole Avocado Bun Burgers?

I would not suggest freezing the avocado burger because of the whole layering.

You could freeze your avocados once they are firm and soft and use them later on for layering.
