Learn How To Make Sugar Free Strawberry Jam Recipe with 2 ingredients only in just a few minutes. This Homemade Strawberry Preserve is Pectin Free, Gluten-Free, Grain-Free, Keto, and perfect for Diabetics.
Keto Breakfast
Apart from using this Homemade Strawberry Jam for various cakes, such as our strawberry sugar free cake, it is the easiest breakfast option when you are going for something sweet. Our sugar-free apricot jam is also one of the best jam spreads you can make at home.
Spread it over our Keto Farmers Bread, Waffles, Pancakes, Crepes, Brioche Bread Loaf, Protein Buns, Almond flour bread or Challah Bread.
Add into a Homemade Greek Yogurt or Curd Cheese topped with a few of the fresh berries, and you have just accomplished the best tasting Keto Breakfast that will fill you up the whole morning.
Those are only a few ideas that come into my mind when thinking of what to use this healthy jam for. One more idea is to fill our mini cheesecake bites with the jam.
Sugar Free Jam
Our Recipe for no sugar added jam can be made with any berries or low carb fruits that fit into our lifestyle.
Be it Blueberries, Raspberries, Blackberries, Red currants, Gooseberries, Black currants, or Wild Berries, or you can even add a Rhubarb for that slightly sour flavor.
Although I have already made Cranberry Sauce using a different method together with Brown Sugar Sweetener, you can easily use Cranberries with this recipe as well.
Making Strawberry Jam has never been easier. Trust me. And this is from a person who has never made preserves, jams, jelly, marmalade canning, or anything longer than 10 minutes in the kitchen.
Do you wonder how I make this Keto Jam super thick without pectin or any other thickening agent?
Chia seeds
Chia seeds are our secret ingredient.
They are available everywhere, and I am sure you all have a bag at home. Chia Seeds are super easy to store and great ways to use in so many recipes in our low-carb lifestyle.
The main purpose of chia seeds is to thicken your dish without adding anything else. Like the Flax Seeds, once mixed with liquid, each seed will form a jelly-like structure, making your final dish perfectly thick.
Uses for Chia Seeds
I have already made a few puddings using chia seed, as this is the healthiest, quickest, and easiest option when thickeners are concerned.
You can pick from our beautiful Rainbow Chia Pudding, which I love to make when we have guests, Dalgona Pudding when coffee is needed, Chocolate Chia Seeds Pudding, or the quickest breakfast ever, creating a Coconut Pudding when in a hurry.
Chia Strawberry Jam
Our Chia Strawberry Jam is a recipe that nobody can ever get wrong.
Added to this, I love the texture of the seeds inside this no sugar jam, as strawberries or raspberries also contain tiny seeds you can taste, and those are, to me, identical to chia.
Depending on your preference, you can use ground Chia Seeds as well.
Low Sugar Strawberry Jam Recipe
Our recipe only contains the natural fruit sugar the actual strawberries contain.
Depending on your sweetness buds, you can add one of the sweeteners if needed.
But I believe this Sugar-Free Strawberry is already sweet enough and does not need anything else to sweeten it further.
Type of Strawberries
There is also a big difference between the season and the type of strawberries you will use.
Store-bought strawberries do not have so much of a taste throughout the winter and therefore might be sweetened a bit.
They also have more water content, which needs to be cooked longer and considered once calculating your macros.
But when it comes to the summer, and you get your own, handpicked or bought from one of the fields close to you, this jam without sugar or sweetener will be so sweet, one would not believe it.
More ripe your strawberries are, the sweeter your keto strawberry jam is.
In our jam recipe, strawberries are the only sweetener involved, and therefore the carbohydrate content is really minimal.
I have split the calculation for you into 10 servings, where a serving is 2 tablespoons of this Diabetic Jam.
You get a perfect 3 grams of carbohydrates only together with 1 gram of Fiber for a portion. This brings you to a total of 2 grams of net carbs for two tablespoons of homemade sugar-free strawberry jam.
Again taking 2 Tablespoons as a portion, our low sugar strawberry jam recipe contains only 22 grams of calories. That is a perfect addition to any of the sweet breakfast choices.
Apart from chia seeds, there are various additional thickeners you can use to make sugar-free jam.
Pectin has been popular for a long time but is pretty high in carbs, but you can also use Xanthan Gum, Gelatine, Jello, and even Flax Seeds, which act the same way as chia seeds do.
What sweeteners are best for making homemade sugar-free jam?
If you still feel that sugar is needed, the best sweeteners to use for the sugar-free jam are the sweeteners, which do not recrystallize after cooling. My favorite is Allulose, Stevia, or Monk Fruit. Of course, a mixture of those together is a great option as well.
You can even pick one of our Homemade Sweeteners with some liquid syrups.
I would try to avoid any sweetener with erythritol as this sweetener always recrystallizes and leaves tiny grains of sugar.
Can you preserve homemade sugar-free jam?
Our basic recipe can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
But if you are looking to preserve or can strawberry jam, I suggest adding lemon juice. Lemon Juice helps to prolong the shelf life. In this case, a few tablespoons of sweetener might be added, depending on the taste of this sugar-free marmalade.
Can you use frozen strawberries to make a jam?
You can certainly use frozen strawberries as well. The only difference will be that you might have to cook them a bit longer as they contain more water.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE BEST SUGAR-FREE STRAWBERRY JAM
First Step: Ingredients for strawberry jam
Prepare ingredients for making your own sugar-free strawberry jam.
Cut strawberries into small pieces for a shorter cooking time.
Chia seeds can be white, dark, or grounded, depending on your preference.
Second Step: Cook Strawberries
Into a pot, add fresh strawberries, and start cooking them on medium-high.
Stir them regularly to prevent burning on the bottom.
Third Step: Mash Strawberries
Once you see that your strawberries are soft and most of the water has evaporated, using a potato masher, mash them until the texture you like.
Some people prefer pieces of strawberries inside, and some like them thoroughly mashed.
You can even place the mixture into your blender or a magic bullet to get an entirely smooth consistency.
Fourth Step: Add thickener
Once mashed, add chia seeds or thickener of your choice and cook for about 5 additional minutes.
If you are planning to preserve them or use one of the canning methods, I would suggest adding a tablespoon of lemon, which acts as a preservative. In this case, depending on the sweetness of your actual strawberries, you might also add a bit of powdered sweetener.
Fifth Step: Store and serve
Pour into your storage container, let it cool, serve and enjoy.
Tips and Tricks:
- Sweeteners – use any sweetener you have at home apart from erythritol as it recrystallizes after cooling
- Preserving – add lemon juice and sweetener depending on the taste
- Thickeners – apart from chia seeds, you can use xanthan gum, gelatin, jello even flax seeds
