Keto Candy

We all miss candy from time to time. And especially when you get introduced to a low-carb lifestyle. The first thing is to find your favorites but in a much better or healthier way.

Our Chocolate Fudge or Peanut Butter fudge is popular, but sometimes you need something else.

Fruit Roll-Ups, Sesame Bars, or Marshmallows are a great addition to a healthy candy, but nothing beats Gummy Bears.

I would suggest making those gummies with your kids as it is a perfect way of activity they will enjoy.

Buying Sugar-Free Gummy Bears

At the beginning of the low carb lifestyle, or at least that was for me, is to go into shops or the internet and try to find sugar-free candy you can indulge in.

What happens?

You order a few packets. Some do not taste great, but some do. After so much time of missing that taste, you eat the whole package, or two, in a few minutes.

But what comes next, nobody expects. The excruciating stomach pain followed by visiting your bathroom for the next few hours will make you decide against shopping EVER in your life.

Later on, comes the time when you realize, you can cook, bake and prepare everything at home, with the ingredients you choose and without any additives.

And this recipe for gummy bears is one of them.

Homemade Gummy Bears

A super simple way to make Sugar-Free Gummy Bears from tea selections and a bit of sweetener. Adding super yummy collagen from gelatine sheets will make them perfect Keto sweet to put into your lunch box.

This recipe has even made it on our Top 10 Best Low Carb & Keto Recipes of 2018

Are Sugar-Free Gummy Bears Keto?

As we know, some store-bought sugar-free gummy bears are sweetened with fruit juice. Our Homemade Gummies are entirely Keto because of the ingredients.

Those Keto Gummy Bears are made with tea sachets for the flavor and stevia or one of your preferred sweeteners for the sweetness.

Are Gummy Bears Vegan?

As we are using Gelatine Sheets to make this Gummy Bear Recipe, depending on what type of gelatine you are using, you can transform those gummies into vegan as well.

You can make those gummy bears fully vegan using Agar Agar and avoid types such as grass-fed beef gelatine.

Are those Gummy Bears Gluten-Free?

Absolutely yes. Our Ingredients for gummy Bears are all entirely Gluten-Free, making those Keto Candy the same.

How many carbs are in Sugar-Free Gummies?

I have split the full recipe into 4 portions, which is an approximately a small handful of gummy bears.

For a portion, you only get 1 gram of carbohydrates which is awesome considering, that most of the time you only take a few pieces.

What Silicone Forms are best for making gummies?

Best of all, the molds to use for gummies are made from silicone. Silicone makes the gummies easy to take out of the form.

You do not have to use only the gummy bear silicone form.

You can use any mini silicone molds to make simple keto gummies.

You can also pour the whole mixture onto a big form and cut it into small squares once cooled and hardened.

How are Gummy Bears made?

With a few simple steps, you can have perfect gummy bears that are simple, delicious, healthy, and cute on the table.

For coloring, we used different types of teas. We have used stevia tablets to sweeten things up, which are perfect for hot dishes. And since you have to use hot water for gelatine, those tablets became handy.

Very similar to these steps is our recipe Keto Infused Iced Tea.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MAKING THE HEALTHIEST GUMMY BEARS

First Step: Ingredients needed for keto gummies

Prepare all of the ingredients for making sugar-free gummy bears.

With regards to tea choices, pick your favorite and the one you like the color as well.

My choices were: Camomile tea for orange gummies, Hibiscus tea for red-colored gummy bears, Matcha Tea for green color, and Blueberry tea for purple color.

Lemon is optional, and it is there just to intensify the taste. I have added it only to chamomile tea.

Sweetener is also optional. I have used stevia tablets as I love to flavor all of my cooking dishes with.

Fifth Step: Fill gummy bear molds

Using a pipette, which comes with gummy bear molds, start filling your mold with the liquid.

Place into the fridge until it hardens.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

How do you store Homemade Gummy Bears?

Because those gummy bears are made from fresh ingredients, especially tea sachet, they will not last for long. Best stored in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days only.

Anything longer, I would suggest freezing them.

Can you freeze Sugar-Free Gummy Bears?

You can, without a doubt, freeze our homemade sugar-free gummy bears.

As they do not last for more than a few days, this is what I suggest in case you are going to make more than you can consume.

    • Dear Linda,

You can definitely change the sweetener, but with stevia, you would have to experiment since they all have a different sweetness. Just with the liquid one, take the same amount of water away.

  1. I was concerned that you show the calories being 23 for 1 serving. I can’t imaginehow herb tea, with stevia and gelatine can have so many calories. Is it from the gelatine? Or have I missed something? And is that for one of the tiny bears or the entire tray? Btw I thoroughly enjoyed watching Sophie’s video I’ve never made anything with gelatine before and I was apprehensive until i saw what Sophie making them. She answered every question I had.

    • Dear Leanne,

From the whole recipe you get to fill up all of the 3 silicone molds plus additional 1-2. Those are then split to 4 servings. Therefore 1 serving is 23 calories, which is approx 50pc gummy bears.
      Hope that helps.
And thanks for a nice words. You will love them big time.

  2. This is more jelly taste. I would like to do more haribo which is chewy and harder. I have read a normal recipe for sugar where they heat the sugar to a bit stickier texture to have the chewy for the gummies. I am wondering if we can do it with which kind of sweeteners? Thank you if you can help
